The Department of English Language and Applied Linguistics at the University of Birmingham is offering a number of AHRC and ESRC-funded Masters and Doctoral studentships. We particularly welcome applications in the areas of Corpus Linguistics, Cognitive Linguistics, Literary Linguistics, Language and Social Media, Language and Politics, and the History of English. Within these areas, colleagues have particularly strong specialisms in the study of the discourse of academic disciplines, the language of Dickens, Pattern Grammar, Construction Grammar, Language Change, Embodied Cognition, Elizabethan English, Narratives and Social Media, and Health Discourse.
