Do you work with handwritten documents and need a tool that can perform automatic text recognition? Are you interested in automated methods but do not know where to start, or if they are worth your time? Come join us for this workshop with Joe Nockels (University of Sheffield) to learn more about utilising automatic text recognition as well as its context, with a focus on the tool Transkribus.
Lunch will be provided between 12:00-13:00. The workshop itself will run from 13:00-16:00, followed by an hour-long surgery session from 16:00-17:00, where you can ask questions and seek advice tailored to your specific research needs.
This event is aimed at literary scholars, historians, and linguists who are working on digital resources or who are preparing grant proposals and need a better understanding of available tools and methods. Postgraduate students are also welcome.
This event is free to attend, but booking is required. It is in-person only. A maximum number 30 people can attend.
