New countries join CLARIN

CLARIN has been delighted to accept a number of new members in the past year, including Lithuania, Sweden, Portugal, Greece and Slovenia. Negotiations with Hungary and Iceland are under way, in the final stages with Croatia and Finland, and Norway is in the process of moving from Observer to Full Member status. France and Italy are considering joining as Observers, and there are contacts with almost every other European country. In this context, the forthcoming application from the UK to join as an Observer is part of a wider adoption of the CLARIN research infrastructure across the continent.

The following countries are now full members of CLARIN: Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dutch Language Union, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia and Sweden, and Norway is an Observer.
