Core Corpus Skills for Academic Purposes

The aim of this one-day event is to discuss the role corpora play in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) teaching (morning session), and to plug the current gap in documentation relating to core corpus skills for academic purposes (afternoon session). By the end of the day, we aim to co-create with participants a series of Core Corpus Skills Can Do statements to present to BALEAP, to supplement their existing documentation.

 
We invite proposals for 20-minute presentations (15 minutes + 5 minutes for questions) to complete the morning session programme. These will offer short, thought-provoking talks on what speakers feel are essential corpus linguistic elements for EAP teacher training. Please send 250-word abstracts to Benet Vincent (benet.vincent@coventry.ac.uk) and Siân Alsop (sian.alsop@coventry.ac.uk) by 28 February 2020.

The event charge is £20.00 for BAAL members and £25 for non-members. A buffet lunch will be included.
