Lesley Jeffries was Professor of English Language and Linguistics at the University of Huddersfield. She was the Director of the Institute for Applied Linguistics at Huddersfield and the PI on the Hansard at Huddersfield project (https://hansard.hud.ac.uk). Her main research interests are in political applications of stylistics, the stylistics of poetry and theories of textual meaning. Her major publications include Stylistics (Cambridge University Press, 2010; with Dan McIntyre) and Keywords in the Press: The New Labour Years (Bloomsbury, 2017; with Brian Walker).
Leslie retired in 2022 following the closure of Linguistics at Huddersfield.
