In 2024 Michaela became Professor of Digital Humanities and Alexander-von-Humboldt Professor at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg.
Michaela was active in CLARIN-UK as Professor of Corpus Linguistics at the University of Birmingham, where she remains an Honorary Professor. An interview with Michaela as part of the Tour de CLARIN can be found here.
Michaela's main research interests are in corpus linguistics and contextual approaches to meaning. She has published Corpus Stylistics and Dickens's Fiction soon to be published by Routledge. Michaela is editor of the International Journal of Corpus Linguistics, and together with Wolfgang Teubert from the University of Birmingham edits the book series Corpus and Discourse.
